Calif. flood agency in line for massive raises
April 16, 2009
SACRAMENTO ” Employees of the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency are in line to start receiving raises of up to 127 percent of their current salaries.
Executive director Stein Buer says the raises are needed to treat current employees fairly and to recruit future employees. Buer already got a $57,000 raise, to $210,000 ” a 36 percent increase.
The agency’s board planned to take up the raises Thursday.
Under the proposal, flood control board employees would get new job titles but keep doing the same duties for higher pay.
At least one employee’s job will now be done by two people, but he’s still in line for a higher salary.
Buer says the higher salaries are based a survey of similar employers.
