Car wash today to benefit slain Army Sgt. Timothy ‘Timmy’ Smith’s family

A car wash to benefit the wife and child of slain Iraq war veteran Army Sgt. Timothy “Timmy” Smith will take place from 8 a.m. to noon today at the Lake Tahoe Unified School District bus barn on Al Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe.

Smith was killed April 7 after a roadside bomb exploded during routine patrol in Baghdad. He was 25 and a 2001 graduate of South Tahoe High School.

This is a group effort of the Lake Tahoe Community College Fire Academy cadets.
