Carson City girl dies of flu

CARSON CITY – Family members say an 11-year-old Carson City girl has died of influenza after developing pneumonia.

Kyra Conway complained of feeling fatigued during a recent family trip to Disneyland. The vacation was a wish The Dream Foundation granted to her mother, Danielle, who has terminal colon cancer.

Kyra was at school Thursday when she complained of chest pain.

Her grandmother, Norma Conway, says she rested at home the next few days but had developed a high fever by Sunday.

She was flown to a Reno hospital Tuesday before being flown to Davis, Calif.

Norma Conway says the girl’s heart stopped during the flight, and emergency crews were unable to revive her.
