The Carson Valley Art Gallery Association will start off the New Year with Second Saturday activities at the six galleries located in Minden and Gardnerville. Take a drive through the magical Carson Valley on Jan. 12 and check out these scheduled events:

An exhibit and sale of art titled “Love Me Tender” will be featured at Artisans International Gallery, 1653 Lucerne St., Minden Village, Minden, (775) 783-8881. A reception will take place from 3 to 5 p.m., where people can meet many of the artists and enjoy light refreshments.

Artistic Viewpoints Gallery and Studio, 1368 Highway 395, “B,” Gardnerville, (775) 783-0633, will continue its “Preview 2008” show, featuring new work by 10 of their artists. The work depicts the artistic direction these artists intend to take for the following year. Stop in for refreshments and meet some of the artists from 1 to 4 p.m.

Dorrine Sadilek will demonstrate her landscape collage techniques from 1 to 3 p.m. at East Fork Gallery, 1503 Highway 395, Gardnerville, (775) 782-7629. Starting with a watercolor wash of a fall scene, she then glues various fibrous papers onto the surface and follows with a final watercolor wash. Light refreshments will be served.
