South Tahoe was counting on hitting carrying it through the Nevada District 1 Little League tournament at Aspen Park in Gardnerville.

Carson Valley would have none of it, limiting South Tahoe’s 11-12 All-Stars to three hits in a 13-1 tournament-opening triumph Sunday.

Kolby Eymann accounted for two of South Tahoe’s three hits, and Sergio Burgueno scored his team’s only run on a passed ball in the fourth inning.

“Our hitting wasn’t there tonight. Hopefully, we’ll get on track and even it out a bit,” said South Tahoe skipper Dan Miller, “Carson Valley was a really tough team tonight.”

South Tahoe (0-1) continues its four-game pool schedule against Reno American West tonight at 8.

The South Tahoe 10-11 All-Stars suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Sparks Centennial in its tournament opener on Sunday. Sparks scored twice in the final inning to overcome South Tahoe 3-2.
