Carson Valley Pops Orchestra seeks new members

Staff reports

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Elizabeth King, has begun rehearsals for the 2010 concert season. The nonprofit orchestra was formed in 1999. Its members are volunteers and include amateur and professional musicians of all ages.

In the past, the orchestra has performed for audiences in Minden at the CVIC Hall, the Carson Valley Inn and the Minden Town Park. They have also performed in Genoa at the Town Hall, in Yerington at the Jeanne Dini Cultural Center and in the Gardnerville Town Park. Four concerts are planned for the 2010 season, including concerts scheduled in March, the 4th of July, October and December.

Although the orchestra welcomes all musicians, especially needed are string players. New and returning members are always welcome, and only informal auditions are conducted as needed.

If you are interested and would like more information, please contact the conductor, Elizabeth King, at cvpops@hotmail.com or call (530) 515-5492, or attend a rehearsal at the Douglas High School band room in Minden on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m.
