CASA makes a big splash

The annual CASA Kids Summer Barbecue was a huge splash for everyone who attended. Advocates and kids alike enjoyed swimming, hot dogs and creating their own cupcake masterpieces at the Tahoe Keys Pool. A great time was had by all.

Court Appointed Special Advocates are trained volunteers appointed by the court to advocate for the best interests of children who are dependents in the court system. CASA volunteers provide a voice for these children in court proceedings for the entire time they are part of the court system.

Anyone who cares about children can become a CASA. The fall CASA training class will begin Sept. 1 and continue to Oct. 24. The class will meet from 5:30 to 7:20 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at the Superior Court. Registration for the class is through Lake Tahoe Community College and the class course is CRJ180. For additional information about CASA contact Wendy David at the CASA office or call (530) 573-3072.
