CASA makes big catch

Just like fish, Court Appointed Special Advocates volunteers come in all shapes and forms. Each volunteer has something unique to offer. CASA South Lake Tahoe hauled in a great catch with Jack Ernst, a gentleman who lives to fish and to share this love with children who may not have that opportunity.

Recently, he took one of his many young fishing companions out on Lake Tahoe in his 24-foot cruiser, Joy, for some early morning trolling. They came back with a string of fish that any respectable fisherman could be proud of. These CASA kids are indeed lucky because they not only get to try fishing, but they also are making the acquaintance of a caring man. He is just one of the many lucky “catches” for CASA, as are all the dedicated volunteers who have chosen to enhance the lives of children.

CASA matches trained, adult volunteers with children who are part of the court system. Each CASA is appointed by the judge to advocate for that child’s best interest in court. Anyone who would like to find out more about CASA or is interested in volunteering or contributing to this vital program may contact the CASA office at (530) 573-3072. Each child deserves to have a voice in court. You could be that voice. Consider “catching on” with CASA as a volunteer.
