CASA to host training for new advocates

Court Appointed Special Advocates of El Dorado, CASA, is hosting an informational meeting from 3-4 p.m. Sept. 21 at the El Dorado County Superior Court House conference room, 1354 Johnson Blvd.

The meeting will provide information about CASA El Dorado and what it means to be a child advocate. Applications will be available and current CASA volunteers will be on-hand to discuss their experiences.

For those interested in becoming a advocate in court for children, CASA is offering a fall training class starting in October.

CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge and advocate for a child’s best interest in court. Many of these children have been removed from their homes and are placed in foster care. The CASA volunteer is often the only consistent person in their life during a traumatic time, serving as an advocate, a mentor and a friend.

Call Kelly Edmundson or Amanda Morozumi at the CASA office at 530-573-3072 for more information and to sign up for the fall training.
