FALLON – Fallon HIGH pinned its way through the South Tahoe wrestling team as the Greenwave won 54-30 for its second straight dual match victory Wednesday at Elmo Derrico Gym.

Of the 14 weight classes, only seven matches were wrestled and the Wave won six, all by pin. South Tahoe’s lone win on the mat was provided by junior Cameron Cason, who won his 119-pound match over Hector Anaya by fall.

Fallon, ranked fifth in the Northern Region, won four matches by forfeit and the Vikings claimed four.

Anthony Reibsamen (135 pounds) got things going for the Wave as he pinned Ian Fonken in 45 seconds. Charlie Heck (145), Zerek Sanchez (152), Dalton Johnson (160) and Ian Fitzpatrick (189) each won by pin. Johnson recorded his pin in 56 seconds over Gabe Strong.

“I still know this team is capable of great things and they showed they can rise to the occasion,” Fallon head coach Mitch Overlie said. “We wrestle a little flat, but we had a lot of things go our way.”

Since losing in triple overtime at the Sierra Nevada Classic, Heck has won two consecutive matches and is focused on improving for zone. Heck used his quickness against Tyler Nesbitt to reverse out of a hold and pin Nesbitt.

Sanchez, meanwhile, placed seventh at the Sierra Nevada Classic at 152 pounds. He took down Brian Hogan three times and on the final takedown corralled Hogan for the pin.

South Tahoe’s Cody Shindelbower (112), Christian Fausto (171), Jose Silva (215) and Roger Ripoli (heavyweight) were awarded forfeits.

The Vikings will compete in the Alhambra tournament on Saturday.
