Cathedral Road, Tallac trail now opened following fire earlier this week

Staff report

The U.S Forest Service reopened both Cathedral Road and the Tallac Trail and all previously closed trails to the public as of noon today.

Both the road and the trails were closed for public safety reasons during the recent Cathedral fire.

The 25-acre fire was contained at 6 p.m. on Tuesday and controlled on Wednesday. No structures burned and there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Although there is no direct cause yet determined, human cause is suspected.

The fire burned in moderately timbered, steeply sloped terrain with heavy underbrush, aided by upslope winds. Significant resources were applied and the fire was quickly contained at 25 acres.
