Cauis ‘Kay’ Monroe Rowlett

Memorial services took place June 11 in Florida for Cauis “Kay” Monroe Rowlett, 85. who passed away June 8, 2007.

Kay was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Bradenton, Fla., the descendent of a pioneer Florida family. He had been a part-time resident of South Lake Tahoe for 24 years. He served in the U.S. Naval reserves during World War II and the Korean War. Kay started his own construction company in 1947 and served in many community organizations including Kiwanis, where he never missed a meeting in more than 50 years. He loved the beauty of Lake Tahoe and enjoyed skiing through the 2007 ski season. Kay was a community activist, philanthropist and developer. He was a member of the Tahoe Community Church.

He is survived by his wife, Madge; son, Bill; daughters, Karen and Claire; and sister, Rita Rowlett Warner.
