Cefalu, Wilson, Backinger named first-team All-State
One name on the All-State list is impressive. This year, the Vikings got three.Seniors John Cefalu, Kyante Wilson and Cale Backinger were all named to first team All-State this week. Cefalu was named first team quarterback and Wilson snagged first team split end on the Division I-A All-State roster this week. Cefalu was nationally ranked this year and led the state of Nevada in passing through regular season. He amassed 33 touchdowns, threw for 3,235 yards while limiting interception to five in 10 games.Wilson made first team split end. As a wide receiver, he caught 68 to collect more than 1,000 passing yards, record 10 touchdowns and average 107 yards a game. Wilson managed most of this while under double coverage. Backinger is first team tight end. He caught 617 yards this season, including a 72-yard touchdown pass, and found the end zone seven times for the Vikings. The three seniors led the Vikings to the first winning season the team has seen in nearly a decade.
