Celebration of life to celebrate fallen soldier

Jim Grant / Tahoe Daily Tribune

A celebration of life for the late Sgt. Timothy Michael Smith, who died in Iraq on April 7, 2008, will be held at 11:30 a.m. April 10 at the Grandview chairlift at Sierra-At-Tahoe Ski Resort. A potluck barbecue will follow at the home of Smith’s mother, Patty Smith, at 848 Placer Ave.

Smith was on the snowboard team at South Lake Tahoe High School.

“He had no fear even back then,” Patty Smith said. “You would see him flying down the mountain catching air and doing flips with that beautiful smile and silly grin from ear to ear.”

The resort has offered to transport people who are on foot and not skiing, and will give a $20 discount for lift tickets. Warm clothing is advised.

Please RSVP to Patty Smith at (530) 542-6272, (530) 416-9100, or at mountainsbuddyblue@yahoo.com.
