Celebrity golf needs volunteers

A few more good volunteers are needed for the 2001 American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Edgewood Golf Course.

Volunteers will assist in a variety of on-course positions, especially during the official tournament July 6 through 8. Help also is needed for practice rounds July 3 and 4 as well as the Celebrity/Amateur Tournament on July 5. Golfers and nongolfers are invited to apply.

Most of the key positions are in the Course Marshal category and involve assisting in crowd control during play. “These volunteers have a key vantage point since they get to see every group of celebrities as they play through each hole,” said Kathleen Farrell, volunteer coordinator for the tournament.

Applicants are asked to commit to at least two days of volunteering and pay a fee of $50, which entitles them to the 2001 official volunteer uniform, admission to the tournament, snack/lunch every day worked and an additional complimentary admission pass for a friend each day they work.

Volunteer applications are available at the Tahoe-Douglas Chamber of Commerce on U.S. Hwy. 50 at Round Hill. For information, call (775) 588-4591.
