Chain controls required throughout Sierra and Lake Tahoe basin

Chains or snowtires are required along several Sierra routes this morning. For the most up-to-date road controls go to http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/ or go to safetravelusa.com, or call (800) 427-7623.

The following roads have controls as of 6:52 a.m.:

Chains mandatory for 39 miles between 3 miles west of Rainbow, Calif., Exit 168 and the California state line.



Chains mandatory for 18 miles Kyburz

and 4 miles west of State Route 89 in Meyers. Chains or snowtires required for 20 miles between California State Route 89 and 7 miles west of Highway 395, over Spooner Summit to Carson City.



Chains or snows required for 27 miles between Highway 50 and Tahoe City.

Chains or snowtires required for 51 miles between Dew Drop, Calif., and Woodfords.

Chains or snowtires required for 8 miles between 2 miles north of Highway 50 and Bliss State Park. Snowtires or chains required for 22 miles between Tahoma and Interstate 80 at Truckee. Chains or snows required for 9 miles between 5 miles north of Truckee and 14 miles north of Truckee.

Chains or snowtires required from Highway 50 at Stateline, Over Dagget Summit to State Route 206 in the Carson Valley.

Snowtires or chains required for 19 miles between State Route 28 and 6 miles south of Highway 395.

Chains or snowtires required for 2 miles between Interstate 80 at Truckee and 2 miles east of Interstate 80. Chains mandatory for 10 miles between 2 miles east of Interstate 80 at Truckee and State Route 28 at Kings Beach.
