Chamber president has lofty goals

Tahoe, the future frontier.

With Star Trek as the theme, the Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce held its 46th annual installation dinner Friday at Planet Hollywood inside Caesars Tahoe.

The festivities lifted off at 6 p.m. and as guests arrived dressed in their finest intergalactic suits everyone at the planet known as Hollywood was prepared to salute former Commander Greta Hambsch on a job well done and welcome acting Commander Dennis Crabb as the new President of the Tahoe Chamber galaxy.

“It was a wonderful event in several respects,” Crabb said.

The festivities were highlighted by a fitting tribute to Hambsch’s contributions as president and a roasting of Crabb.

In showing her commitment to the community, Hambsch deferred the customary parting gift valued at $250 and donated the money to the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe.

After his roasting, Crabb had the opportunity to meet with members of the Chamber and get a sense of their expectations and interests.

Crabb, who plans to focus on work-force housing, implementation of the environmental improvement program and creation of a second economy to augment tourism, felt the theme of Star Trek was very fitting for this event.

“It’s a theme about a positive view of the future,” he said. “This year will be about creating a future for the South Lake Tahoe business community that will make all of us proud.”
