Charter employees get into holiday spirit

JIm Grant / Tahoe Daily Tribune / Charter Communications employees carry Christmas gifts they purchased for the Women's Centers at both the south and north shore of Lake Tahoe.

Charter Communications, a cable provider in the South Lake Tahoe/Meyers area, arranged to provide an annual holiday party for the employees at both South and North Lake Tahoe as its annual thank you.

However, this year the employees unanimously decided on their own that the idea of a Christmas party was great, but it was not what the true meaning of Christmas was about. So, all the office and field employees decided to bring their own wonderful dishes and forgo the usual catered affair. They ultimately celebrated at the office for the overwhelming cost of zero.

They then contacted the South Lake Tahoe and North Shore Women’s Centers and adopted a family at each center to sponsor for Christmas in lieu of a holiday party. The family at the South Shore included a mother and four children – 10, 12, 14 and 16 years of age. The North Shore family consisted of a mother, an 18-month-old, a 4-year-old and a 6-year-old.
