Chateau developers eyeing August restart

Owens Financial, the developers behind a partial version of what was once envisioned as a more than $400 million retail, lodging and convention space at the state line, expects to restart construction on the long-stalled Chateau project in early August, according to South Shore attorney Lew Feldman.

The attorney said Owens Financial is finalizing details regarding the city’s construction permit and pricing with Sierra Nevada Construction.

Owens Financial hopes to have the partial project, which includes the retail portion of the original project along Lake Tahoe Boulevard, completed in early summer 2014. The goal is to have some public improvements, like a temporary sidewalk, completed in time for the upcoming ski season, Feldman said.
