With the price of gas at $3.39 a gallon people are looking for a way to cut down on their driving. The Lake Tahoe Branch of El Dorado County Library offers some library services that can be obtained from home.

To place a book on hold or renew a book that has been checked out, call the library any time during hours of operation. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The phone number is (530) 573-3185. A library card number is needed to renew by phone.

Books may be held and renewed on the Web site at http://www.eldoradocountylibrary.org. Library cards are necessary to use the Web site and instructions are on the home page. People who have trouble using the site may call the library for help.

The library is at 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd. There are activities for the entire family. Free children’s programs are planned throughout the summer, including a Summer Reading Club with prizes awarded to readers.

There is no limit to the number of books that can be checked out, so people can stock up on reading and cut down on car trips.
