Business help bring lessons to life

Bijou Community School’s second grades would like to thank several businesses for enhancing our language arts unit on families and culture. Many thanks to Sugar Pine Bakery for the wonderful and informative tour, as well as the memorable experience of decorating cookies and shopping for goodies!

Also, thank you to Lisa at Rude Brothers Bagels for your generous, delicious donation of jalapeno bagels (plus additional assorted bagels). These went a long way toward giving our students a taste of their story, Jalapeno Bagels!

And, another big thank you to Safeway and Raley’s for your monetary donations toward the ingredients for Chango Bars and Thunder Cake, both of which were or are soon to be made at school with our students.

Thanks to all of you for your generosity. You are all an amazing asset to our community!

Soroptimists grant will bring Christmas Cheer to many children

Christmas Cheer Food Bank would like to sincerely thank Soroptimists International of South Lake Tahoe for their most generous award for their Community Service Grant. It will allow hundreds of children to receive toys at Christmas along with Christmas dinner with all the trimmings for their families. In addition, the dignity that the underserved women and children in our city will receive is priceless.

Thank you so much.
