A performance featuring bluegrass and old-time Americana music comes to Heavenly Village Friday evening.

Low Flying Birds, from Chico, Calif., plays a free show as part of the Heavenly Village Summer Concert Series.

“Low Flying Birds is a band whose time has come,” according to Low Flying Bird’s online biography. “Front loaded with songwriters Doug Stein (Guitar/Voc) boasting a rhythm section of Johnny Lombardo(bass) and Noel Carvalho (drums), their crafted sound is a blend of Outlaw Bluegrass, California Soul & Americana . LFB is truly an all star line-up as each of the members have impressive track records on their own. Founded in Jan of 2012 Low Flying Birds have quickly risen to the top of Chico’s growing Bluegrass scene.”

The band has shared the stage with local favorites Dead Winter Carpenters, as well as acts such as Head for the Hills, Good Gravy, Polecats, Fruition and Poor Mans Whiskey.

The show is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. at the village’s outdoor stage.
