Children’s reading club starts Tuesday

The South Lake Tahoe Branch Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd., will offer a Children’s Winter Reading Club starting Tuesday and running through March 22. The club is designed as an incentive program to keep children reading throughout the winter and is open to children through age 14.

At sign-up, each child will be given a timesheet with which to keep track of their time spent reading. When the form is filled in, the child may pick a prize out of the Reading Club Treasure Chest or choose a gift certificate for pizza, ice cream or a free skate at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. For extra fun, the children also may guess how many items are in the Mystery Jar. The closest guess to the actual number of items wins the entire jar of mystery items.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For more information, call (530) 573-3185.
