Over one dozen beers and five chilis are on the menu at this weekend’s Grand Sierra Chili and Beer Festival, held at Grand Sierra Resort and Casino from Friday, Oct. 21, through Sunday, Oct. 23.
“With the autumn chill just beginning to settle into the air, nothing says fall quite like a hot bowl of chili. The Chili & Beer Festival is coming this October to Grand Sierra Resort featuring the International Chili Society’s (ICS) 50th Anniversary World’s Championship Chili Cookoff with cooks from around the country competing head to head,” states Grand Sierra Resort’s website.
Chefs participating in the challenge come from a variety of local restaurants, including Bam!Dog Righteous Hot Dogs, BJ’s Nevada Barbecue Company, Cafe at Adele’s, Lucky Beaver Bar & Grill and Mari Chuy’s Mexican Kitchen.
Featured breweries include Under the Rose Brewing Company, Great Basin Brewing Co., Pigeon Head Brewery, Record Street Brewing Company and more.
The festival kicks off on Friday at 2 p.m. and continues through Sunday at 4 p.m.
“Everyone is welcome, so be sure to buy your sampling ticket and bring your appetite so you can try all the seriously good chili from the best chili makers anywhere,” states the website.
While attendance is free, sampling tickets cost anywhere from $5 to $50, depending on day and amount of tasting.
Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is located at 2500 E 2nd Street in Reno.
