CHP collecting toys, jackets and food for kids in need

The California Highway Patrol kicked off its Chips for Kids program Monday and is collecting food, new unwrapped toys, new or lightly used jackets and food.

Donations may be dropped off at the Tahoe Daily Tribune office, 3079 Harrison Ave.

The collected items are typically donated to St. Theresa Catholic Church, Lake Tahoe Women’s Center and Christmas Cheer.

The CHP is still seeking local businesses to participate as drop-off locations.

For questions or to participate, call Officer Jeff Gartner at (530) 577-1001.
