CHP issues warning for unregistered cars

Unregistered drivers beware.

California Highway Patrol is on the lookout this week for people who have not registered or have improper registration on their vehicle.

Last year, in a similar week-long crackdown, Valley Division CHP issued 2,022 tickets.

Many offenders knowingly do not register their vehicles in California to avoid fees and insurance requirements, CHP said.

Commander Martin Whited, head of the South Lake Tahoe CHP Office, said his officers will be working with South Lake Tahoe Police during the crackdown. He added that law enforcement will also be looking for seat belt and child safety seat violations.
