CHP offers free driver safety class

Staff reports

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol invites drivers and their guardians to participate in a free Start Smart class at South Tahoe High School next week.

Start Smart is a program aimed at helping newly licensed and future licensed teenage drivers become aware of the responsibilities that accompany the privilege of being a licensed California driver, according to a statement from the CHP.

The program was created in an effort to preemptively reduce the incidence of teen injuries and deaths resulting from motor vehicle collisions.

The class will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the South Tahoe High School Library.

To reserve a space in the class, contact the California Highway Patrol at 530-577-1001.
