Chukar club fund-raiser set

The 15th annual Carson Valley Chukar Club fund-raiser promises to be one of the best post-season events this year. The event will take place at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in Gardnerville, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and the program slated to begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $25 each and are limited to the first 500 people. Youths under the age of 18 may attend but they must have a $15 ticket and be accompanied by an adult. For tickets send payment to the Chukar Club at P.O. Box 1122, Gardnerville, NV.

Dinner includes a gourmet tri-tip steak dinner with homemade beans and salad. The list of raffle prizes and auction items includes a door prize of a Remington 870 31/2-inch mag 12-gauge shotgun as well as Weatherby, Beretta, Sako, Sig Arms and Ruger guns.

Last year was a devastating second year, where fire destroyed a vast amount of wildlife habitat. The Carson Valley Chukar Club matched the Nevada Chukar Foundation donation of $20,000 to be used for wildfire rehabilitation efforts including reseeding prioritized areas with Kochia seed. Locally, the Carson Valley Chukar Club continues to support outdoor enjoyment and education for youth. The club actively supports the annual Kid’s Fishing Derby at Lampe Park and help out with the local Hunter Safety programs offered in Douglas County.
