Funeral services will take place Tuesday for Ciriaco E. Sarmiento, who died Oct. 20, 2006, at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nev., following a long illness. He was 72.
Ciriaco was born June 24, 1934, in the Philippines. He was a resident of South Lake Tahoe from 1996 until 2002, when he moved to Reno. He had been employed as a porter at Caesars Tahoe.
He is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Arnulfo Maynigo of South Lake Tahoe, Nathalie and Desmond Harper of South Lake Tahoe, Alicia and Barry Sipple of Australia, Letecia and Endrio Valero of the Philippines, and Patty Sarmiento of Reno; sons and daughters-in-laws Lucilo and Francesca Allere, Norman and Erla Sarmiento, and Rocklage Sarmiento, all of Reno; sisters, Lily Pielago of the Philippines and Nilda Sarmiento of Malaysia; brother, Jaime Sarmiento of Malaysia; and numerous nephews and nieces, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the Philippines, Australia, Canada and the United States. He was predeceased by his wife, Rita Smith Sarmiento.
Viewing will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday at McFarlane Mortuary, 887 Emerald Bay Road. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, followed by interment at Happy Homestead Cemetery.
