City budget meeting rescheduled for Oct. 11

Staff Reports

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif – The South Lake Tahoe City Council has moved a meeting on its proposed 2011-2012 fiscal year budget from Sept. 27 to next month.

The budget discussion, which could include the elimination of more than 20 city jobs, is now tentatively scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 at Lake Tahoe Airport, said City Clerk Susan Alessi in a Friday email.

Several questions and recommendations have been raised by members of the public following a contentious special meeting earlier this month.

“Staff needs more time to fully review and evaluate these items and additional suggestions and information regarding Redevelopment Agency options, which could have a profound effect on the budget,” Alessi said.

An interim 31-day budget appropriation is expected to be adopted at a special meeting starting at 4 p.m. Sept. 27.
