The city of South Lake Tahoe Parks & Recreation Depart-ment is offering martial arts classes.

This class is designed to teach self-defense, coordination and self-confidence. It is a continuing course for beginners through advanced students.

Arnis is a Filipino martial art. Students will learn single and double stick techniques including disarm, twirling, sparring drills and bare-handed applications.

Tae Kwon Do classes for ages 7 to 15 are from 4:14 to 5:15 p.m. and for ages 15 and over are from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Arnis classes are from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

The next six-week session of classes will begin Nov. 30.
