City will fund upgrades

Expect to see changes at Ski Run Marina Village and Campground By The Lake this summer.

The city of South Lake Tahoe plans to start work at both sites next week, following the City Council’s acceptance of construction bids Tuesday night for improvements.

Campground By The Lake will get 32 electrical hookups on the B-loop. The panel awarded the job to All Power Electric for $51,882.97 on a 4-1 vote. Councilman Bill Crawford opposed the measure due to the chance of cost overruns in the days of the city’s budget shortfall.

The council also awarded a job to White Rock Construction for $84,605 to place slow-growing sod in the northeast corner of the Ski Run Marina area, along with a parking area.

The city entered into a funding partnership with village marina owner Michael Phillips to complete the job.

Crawford also declared no support to the job on the 4-1 vote.

Both projects are expected to be completed by the Fourth of July.
