Clarke wins first prize in art contest

Provided to the Tribune

Nancy Clarke won first prize in the August Tahoe Art League art contest for her oil painting, “On the Trail to Roundtop.” Individuals who have hiked to Lake Winnemucca in the summer to enjoy the wildflowers will delight in this view of Roundtop Peak that Clarke has so effectively portrayed. Her impressionistic paintings are on display at Passaretti’s restaurant and at the Tallac Historical Site.

Sue Stevenson won second prize for her watercolor of Sand Harbor, “Peaceful Morning.” This image with mountains reflected in the calm lake was painted at a Tahoe Art League plein air outing. Stevenson’s watercolors are on display in the permanent collection at Barton Memorial Hospital.

Donna Mc Radu is a past president of Tahoe Art League and a prolific artist, who is accomplished in many media. She captured third prize with her dramatic image, an oil encaustic titled “Protective Love.” Look for her artwork at Passaretti’s and at the TAL Art Center.
