Class Wednesday on cold-water survival techniques

Coast Guard Auxiliary offers a presentation on cold water survival techniques at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Truckee High School Auditorium, 11725 Donner Pass Road in Truckee.

The free public program includes a discussion of the dangers of cold water in our mountain lakes, a video demonstrating the debilitating effects of cold water immersion, a presentation by the fire department on how long it takes first responders to get on scene, a brief discussion on the types of personal flotation devices and then a question and answer period.
