As the Heavenly Village summer concert series reaches its final three weekends, two bands return — each for its second time — to cover hits from the ‘70s and ‘80s. Reno-based Jake’s Garage kicks the weekend off with a performance on Friday, Aug. 19, before 8 Track Massacre makes its second appearance of the summer on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Formed in April 2007, Jake’s Garage is a local band that previously played Heavenly Village in early July. Its catalog includes current music, as well as hits from the 1970s.

8 Track Massacre, based in Sacramento, returns to Heavenly for the second time in less than a month. Its first appearance at the summer concert series came on July 29.

“We are five guys who still love the music that blared from our car stereos in high school and college,” according to 8 Track Massacre’s website.

The cover band’s setlist includes popular songs from artists like Duran Duran, The Cure, Billy Idol, Depeche Mode and more.

“Take a trip back to the days of Aqua Net, Jolt Cola, and Friday Night Videos … the days of pegged jeans and Pac-Man … the days when everything you needed to know you learned in a John Hughes movie,” according to the site. “Go back to the 1980s with 8 Track Massacre!”

Both performances begin at 5 p.m. at Heavenly Village, located at 1001 Heavenly Village Way.
