Classical Tahoe recently announced the lineup for its seventh season, and the annual concert series on the North Shore is boasting some world-renowned classical musicians.

The 12-concert festival, according to a press release, will start July 20 and run through Aug. 12.

“The festival is proud to continue its tradition of engaging soloists of international stature to join superb orchestral musicians invited from some of the most prominent orchestras in the United States; the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the symphonies of San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, Toronto, Vancouver, Leipzig Gewandhaus and other exceptional orchestras,” states a press release from Classical Tahoe.

The 2018 series will include the world premiere of “Double Concerto for Violin and Cello” by award-winning composer and musician Chris Brubeck, featuring world-renowned artists Jaime Laredo, violin and Sharon Robinson, cello. An expanded orchestra this season will allow the festival to offer a larger symphonic repertoire.

“This season we celebrate the best of orchestral music with the most expansive repertoire we have ever programmed,” Joel Revzen, principal conductor for Classical Tahoe, said in a press release.

Classical Tahoe started in 2012 with the goal of creating “a destination for lovers of classical music by providing exceptional classical music concerts performed at the highest level,” according to its website. Since then Classical Tahoe has “become a sought-after gathering and experience for our orchestra musicians who return year after year.”

While announcing the 2018 series, Classical Tahoe also revealed it had received a “music institute grant” from the Firefly Scientists’ Foundation.

“This grant enables the festival to present classes, concerts and outreach events specifically tailored to encourage music engagement in all ages and at all abilities,” Karen Craig, executive director, said in the press release. “We are delighted that Classical Tahoe is becoming a destination for lovers of classical music.”
