Club presents scholarships

Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra presented its annual scholarship and outstanding and most-improved awards May 17. The presentations were made at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center during the service club’s weekly meeting.

“This year’s scholarship recipients were chosen from an outstanding group of candidates,” said Nancy Gaynor, youth enrichment and scholarship committee chair. “This is one of many of our club’s many programs to encourage and support the youth in our community.”

Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra congratulates all the scholarship recipients for their hard work and wishes each of them a bright future in their upcoming endeavors.

Scholarship recipients are Ali Bratton, Joseph Krueger and Cassandra Smith, South Tahoe High School and Kelly Karmann, George Whittell High School. Outstanding Student awards were given to Yuruani Parra and Kent Rowland, South Tahoe Middle School and Sammy Brumbach and Trevor Fairbank, Kingsbury Middle School. Most Improved award recipients are Erin Barcellos and Oscar Ramirez, South Tahoe High School, Blake Bourne, George Whittell High School, and Kory DiGrande, St. Theresa School.
