Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe have enjoyed the talents and energy of local performing artist Ashleigh Petrell for more than two years. Petrell works with club members ages 6 to 18 developing their singing, dancing and performing skills. Currently, Petrell is working with members on their acts for the talent show that is scheduled Aug. 31.

The show will take place at 6 p.m. at the main center, 1100 Lyons Ave., the former Al Tahoe Elementary School. General admission is $2 and children 5 years of age and younger will be admitted free of charge.

Petrell, 24, participated in the tryouts for the Fox version of Star Search Aug. 17 and 18 at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. She was one of 90 contestants who advanced to the semi-finals, where she sang an a capella version of “Proud Mary.”
