College library slated for 2006 completion

Construction will resume May 2 on Lake Tahoe Community College’s 26,619-square-foot library after early snow in October and November persuaded a delay, officials said.

The $7 million facility, funded by state bond measures, is expected to be completed by January 2006 or sooner.

Phil Roche, director of library and media services, understood that construction timetables in Tahoe often hold uncertain predictions and is biding his time by looking at comfortable furniture for the building.

The old library, which rests on the second floor above the student commons area, will be renovated into two classrooms. That remodel is planned to be finished by fall of 2006.
