College, LTUSD meet tonight

The Lake Tahoe Unified School District will meet at 6 tonight to discuss the intention to lease property at South Tahoe Middle School to AT&T for a wireless antenna facility.

Specifically, the board will hear from Steve Morales, the district facilities manager, and an AT&T representative on the explanation of predicted levels of radio frequency electromagnetic energy in the vicinity.

The analysis will reportedly show that the maximum power density in areas accessible by school officials and students to be well below the maximum permissible exposure limit established by the Federal Communications Commission.

The school board authorized Superintendent Diane Scheerhorn to have a public auction on Oct. 23 to lease the property to the highest bidder.

The Lake Tahoe Community College Board of Trustees will meet at 7:30 tonight at Room A106 to hear a report on enrollment and financial statements for the quarter ending June 30. Officials said LTCC’s enrollment is following a trend in community colleges across the state that have increased enrollments.
