Commission on Aging sponsors public hearing
The El Dorado County Commission on Aging will sponsor a public hearing on the draft of the 2002/2003 update to the 2001-2005 Area Plan for Senior Services at 10 a.m. July 18 at the South Lake Tahoe Senior Center, 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd. The plan establishes goals and objectives and specifies what services will be offered to senior citizens age 60 and above in El Dorado County during the 2001 through 2005 time period.
“Programs are funded primarily by federal Older Americans Act and state grant funds received through the California Department of Aging,” said Doug Nowka, Area Agency on Aging director. “Participant donations and generous county general fund support augment these resources to maintain a comprehensive service delivery system in the county.”
Services currently provided include Senior Nutrition, congregate and home-delivered, Senior Information & Assistance, Senior Legal Assistance, Senior Activities, Ombudsman Services, Senior Peer Counseling, Preventative Health Programs, Foster Grandparent, Senior Companion, Brown Bag and Linkages services.
For more information about any of these programs or to comment on the plan and help determine service needs, attend the public hearing. For more information call the Area Agency on Aging office at (530) 621-6150 or 1-800-510-2020.
