Commission to look at basin issues

Douglas County Commissioners are scheduled to discuss several Lake Tahoe-related items Thursday.

– The commission will review, and possibly take action on, the Nevada Department of Transportation proposed projects for 2001-03 and future projects for Lake Tahoe. Most of the projects concern erosion control improvements.

– There will be an update on the coordinated transit system at Lake Tahoe. The proposed system would respond to callers in need of a ride and provide shuttles similar to that of a taxi service. It will have a computerized map indicating where shuttles are located, how many passengers are aboard the vehicle and how close the shuttle is to the caller.

– The commissioners will discuss nominations made to the Lake Tahoe Basin Federal Advisory Committee.
