Community briefs for March 21-24, 2009
An April Fool’s Day mixer is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at the Rockwater Bar and Grill, 787 Emerald Bay Road in South Lake Tahoe.
DJ Dona Baxter will provide music. There will be door prizes and a raffle, featuring a Keith Price bear photo at the salmon festival, and passes to Heavenly Mountain Resort. The South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce and the Rockwater Bar and Grill are the sponsors.
Call JoAnn at (530) 544-7412.
The Sacramento Sierra Chapter of the American Red Cross is recruiting volunteers for better disaster preparation. In some cases, such as road closures or fire, the Red Cross might be cut off so it is important the community is ready to take care of itself initially.
To join the local disaster action team, participants must complete an orientation and three classes. For information, e-mail Lynn Felsch atfelschL@sacsierraredcross.org or call (530) 391-8234
The 22nd annual Booster Golf Tournament will take place Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. Cost for either day is $125 per person, including a scramble tournament, lunch, hole-in-one prizes (including a new car), awards and a post-tournament party! All proceeds benefit both South Tahoe and Whittell High Schools. Call Paul Andrew, (775) 586-8204.
