Community graffiti clean up set for May 1

South Shore residents are invited to participate in a community graffiti clean up day May 1 organized by the South Shore Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lake Tahoe program in conjunction with the Boys & Girls Club.

All community members interested in volunteering will meet at 10 a.m. May 1 at the Boys & Girls Club, 1100 Lyons Ave. Volunteers will paint over graffiti in various locations around town under the guidance of the community service officers of the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

Organizers said project was created to foster a sense of community by bringing citizens together to make a difference in the appearance of the town, as well as discourage criminal behavior in the community.

The event was a “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day.” program, however, Disney reached its goal of one million volunteers and is no longer distributing free tickets. Forty-five community members registered for the event prior to Disney reaching their goal.

Snacks will be available. Lunch will not be provided.
