Completing survey will help young families

First 5 El Dorado Children and Families Commission recently mailed a one-page family survey to approximately 5,000 residents in El Dorado County. The purpose of this survey is to gather information from parents of young children regarding support for Preschool for All programs and access to health care.

“We are hopeful parents will respond and return the survey,” said Steven Thaxton, executive director. “This will assist the commission in gathering information regarding the attitudes and opinions of families, and provide us with information as to support families with young children in need.”

The surveys are in English and Spanish and a self-addressed, stamped envelope is included for the surveys to be returned.

The Commission receives funding from Proposition 10, passed by voters in 1998 to support programs for young children prenatal and birth to age 5. The Commission received a feasibility study grant last year to gather information on developing Preschool for All services for 4-year-olds. The health information supports the Commission’s collaboration with the Public Health Department ACCEL program.

If community members have any questions or need further information about the survey, they should contact the commission office at (530) 672-8298.
