William Ferchland

An ex-felon who concealed a loaded .38-caliber handgun at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe was taken into custody after a person saw the gun while the man was in the rest room, a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy said.

The gun was loaded with four rounds of hollow point bullets, the deputy said. The man. Marcelino Chavez, denied having the gun when questioned by deputies and reportedly reached for the weapon, authorities said.

A glass pipe with residue, small bag of marijuana, folding knife and fake identification was also found on Chavez, the deputy said.

He was booked into Douglas County Jail at $34,500 bail on charges including ex-felon possessing a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
