In response to the Angora fire, a Phoenix conference for sustainable and fire-safe rebuilding of homes will be held on Saturday, July 21, at Lake Tahoe Community College.
The tentative times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with rotating 20-minute conferences throughout the day. Subjects covered in the conference are:
— Sustainable site planning;
— Green and fire- safe materials;
— Green commissioning;
— Energy-efficient mortgages;
— Guest speakers from South Tahoe Public Utilities District and from the South Tahoe Refuse Company.
There will also be a trade show featuring vendors covering the topics listed above, along with yard and debris cleanup and hauling, green carpet cleaning services and more.
The conference is free to community members.
El Dorado County Supervisor Norma Santiago is slated to speak about county issues related to the fire.
