An intimate setting for cooking classes and other events has just opened up in Gardnerville.

Sierra Chef, located at 1516 Highway 395, had a grand opening ceremony on Thursday, introducing a fun and informative classroom setting.

This has been Cynthia Ferris-Bennett’s project for several years, operating as a business that comes out to locations for events, but a physical location is a first.

“It’s finally open and I am excited about the response I’ve gotten from people,” the founder and owner said.

Ferris-Bennett has worked weddings and events including events for Jay Leno, Glen Frey and former Raider’s manager and owner Al Davis.

Sierra Chef will be offering a wide variety of cooking classes, including fresh pasta making, Asian fusion and gourmet mac & cheese.

There will be couples classes that include a nice room to enjoy the meal after they are finished cooking it.

She will also offer mother/daughter classes and etiquette classes in which the children learn manners and what silverware to use.

She has already had a great response, with people buying gift cards for the classes as presents.

Sierra Chef also hosts the ‘Farm to Fork Farmers Market’ starting in May.
