Cool weekend, chance of rain
September 22, 2005
A cold front will move into the Lake Tahoe Basin late Friday evening, bringing freezing nighttime temperatures and high winds – but not a whole lot of moisture – for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
Warmer temperatures are expected to return by the middle of next week.
Highs will be in the low 60s, with freezing temperatures on Saturday night. Expect gusts up to 80 mph on Friday, with cloudy weather. Saturday and Sunday wind speeds will decrease to 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph.
Saturday will be partly cloudy.
Chance of precipitation will be no greater than 20 percent for the weekend, decreasing to 10 percent on Sunday.
“By the middle of next week, a ridge is building that might let us bounce back to warmer temperatures,” said Chris Shulz, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
