The Associated Press

Authorities say a 59-year-old man who was serving time on a murder conviction has died in a Carson City prison hospital.

Nevada Department of Corrections officials say Conrado Fiel died Sunday at the Regional Medical Facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center.

The Carson City coroner responded, and an autopsy was planned.

Fiel had been serving two consecutive sentences of 10 years to life after being convicted in Washoe County of murder and using a deadly weapon.

He had been in the prison system since September 2004.
